Born on the coast of Billings, MT, lived in great sailing places like Casper, WY, Denver, Aspen and Boulder, CO. At the age of 8 announced to his parents that he would buy a camper, travel and write stories.
The mountain experience came together in 1987 when a 'work' transfer relocated Glenn & his bike to Maui. Amazingly a job opened with Alihilani Yacht Charters as crew. With regular income the first yacht was purchased a Hobie 16. Most of the stories with the Hobie included bleeding of some type, but the stories are legendary.
.
Married to Pam in 1997, Linzi joined in 2002 and MeiLing in 2005. In 1999 Glenn began another career as a commercial real estate broker. A job which requires spending more on clothes than recreation. This would all change in 2006; two weeks into the new year Glenn came to Pam and said: "Let's go now". Pam, at a weak point said "OK". Five months later 90 percent of all possessions were gone and all that money being saved and spent on clothes was being well spent in the eternal hole called a boat.
In November of 2006 Glenn became a profession contributor to SAIL magazine fulfilling the prophecy, but changing the camper to a sailboat. A passport filled with stamps replaces the once comfortable check book, but my oh my are there stories to tell now.

Born in Milford, CT and raised in one house. She had only one job too, systems analyst at the phone company, a career that would span twenty eight years. These stable qualities make for an unlikely worldwide sailing trip, but the roots that grew out of Milford allowed for strong branches to grow both out and up.
Pam thought her dream job would be that of a maid. Yes, that is not a type-O, "I get so much satisfaction seeing things clean and organized". Eleven years of marriage and two children have changed that a bit, but it is the perfect quality for someone living on a boat.
In early 2005 her career came to an end after 28 years of service. It was also six months before MeiLing arrived, so the timing was not chosen, but perfect. The transition from corporate director to directing two little kids and full time motherhood went smoothly.
In May of 2006 when the Red Thread left the dock another transition happened. The new and thankless jobs of teacher, cook, cleaner and crew made that corporate job look pretty easy. "I don't miss my old job at all!" Living on a boat is so much work, but so far it's....a lot of work, but it is worth it."
Pam bought her first sailboat, a Catalina 27 in the 1980s, the next boat was a Catalina 310 in 2000 and a Catalina 350 in 2003 and then the Catalina 440 came along in 2006. Moral of the story: Don't ever buy a Catalina 27.
